Governor Patrick Signs Safe Driving Legislation

Effective October 1, 2010 any driver composing or reading a text can be cited and fined $100. In addition to the $100 fine, Junior Operators using any type of mobile electronic device are also subject to a 60-day suspension of their driver's license, will have to complete a driver attitudinal course and pay hefty fees to reinstate their drivers license.

The law also requires drivers, age 75 or older, to renew their licenses at a DOT / Registry Branch in person and undergo a vision test every five years.
